Boeing’s Press Release:
Boeing announced that orders will begin to rise in 2012 as the economy recovers leading to a boost in air travel and airline profits.
“We’re starting to see the economy turn around after a really difficult year last year in terms of traffic,” Randy Tinseth, Boeing’s marketing chief
Brief Summary:
Upside
- In 2009 Boeing delivered 481 commercial jets, 29% increase from the year before.
- Boeings backlog is strong with 3,375 planes
- Boeing delivered 372 737’s and the majority of the backlog orders consists of 2,076 737′s.
Downside
- Net orders declined from 662 in 2008 to 142 in 2009, as a result of economic conditions and internal problems. Specifically, in regards to the 787 delays.
- Boeing cut production of the 777, delivered 88 planes
